“Behold the Tolerant Left!” — An Interview with Turning Point Berkeley's John Paul Leon

The Cal Review founder and editor-in-chief caught up with Turning Point Berkeley's board member John Paul Leon to ask him about tomato juice and tolerance. Watch the entire clip below.

CR: What makes the left so tolerant?

JPL: We all know tolerance is the left's highest virtue. From radical censorship to violent riots, the left has it all when it comes to displaying tolerance and fighting for free speech. Without the left, we wouldn't have a democracy that tried to remove Donald Trump off of the ballot!

CR: Who is your all time favorite leftist and why?

JPL: My favorite leftist is definitely Kamala Harris, or as I like to say, Mamala Harris (Google Willie Brown)! Mamala is a symbol for young women in America, motivating and empowering the women of the future to use their bodies to manipulate men with power to climb up the political hierarchy, without the need for competence or achievements!

CR: Do you think John Locke or Thomas Jefferson ever specifically considered ethical harms in terms of trans people and tomato juice?

JPL: John Locke and Thomas Jefferson were transphobic bigots who did not care about trans rights. The Declaration of Independence says, and I quote, "all men are created equal," yet they completely forgot that some people do not identify as male, and some may not even be a part of the gender binary! It is because of this systemic bigotry that trans people feel the need to defend themselves from fascists with tomato juice, and John Locke and Thomas Jefferson never consider this imperative. I would like to ask the federal government to make a new amendment that allows trans people the right to defend themselves with tomato juice.

CR: Are biological realities merely socially constructed manifestations of power and domination that are perpetuated through language?

JPL: Yes, we created everything, so it is obviously a social construct. If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to see it, does it make a sound? No, and actually, there is not even a tree in the forest, because no one is there to see it. If there is no one there to make an observation and create a word to define it then it doesn't exist, and if someone does see it, then the tree falling in the forest and making a sound is a social construct that is subjective to the person who saw it. To them, witnessing the tree falling may not mean that the tree fell, and we should affirm this belief. This is evidence that human language creates everything as a subjective social spectrum.

CR: V8 Splash or Classic?

JPL: I tend to prefer V8 Splash since that was the tomato juice of choice from the trans person who attacked me (completely justified act of self-defense by the way). To me, V8 juice is a reminder of the noble social justice trans warriors who are fighting the tyrannical patriarchy in order to ensure that every conservative fascist feels unsafe spreading their hate speech everywhere they go.

CR: My source tells me there have been talks with Campbell's soup corporation. Is there a possible soup deal in the works?

JPL: After the success of Dylan Mulvaney's Bud Light promotion, you can be sure that Campbell's soup is gearing up and ready to make an offer to every radical leftist who comes their way in search of the (subjective) truth! I believe Campbell's soup is cooking up a new type of tomato soup. Their idea is to sell empty cans that identify as a full can of tomato soup, as a reminder to all of us that reality is a subjective social construction, and that disagreeing in any way is a form of violent hate speech.
